College of Education
There are two departments that make up the College of Education at Albany State University: the Counseling and Educational Leadership department and the Teacher Education department. Within the realm of educational leadership, the College of Education offers two unique programs: a Masters in Educational Administration and Supervision degree program and an Education Specialist in Administration and Supervision degree program. There are also various certificates that can be added on to both programs or taken alone for non-degree seeking students.
Ed.S. in Educational Leadership
Students who complete the accredited Ed.S. in Educational Leadership degree program at Albany State University will earn an Education Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision. This program is for persons seeking top-level positions in the educational field. While the program only requires about 27 hours of actual class work, students will also need to participate in a minimum of 750 hours of field-based practical training. Applicants to the program must have at least three years of experience in the area of education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership.

Augusta University
College of Education
The College of Education at Augusta University offers a large variety of programs on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to a superb accredited educational leadership degree program, Augusta University’s College of Education also provides programs in such areas as school counseling, special education, music education, kinesiology, art education, and educational innovation. A doctoral program in education leadership is currently in the works at Augusta University and will be offered to eligible prospective and current students in the near future.
MEd in Educational Leadership
The Master of Education in Educational Leadership program offered by Augusta University’s College of Education is a 36 credit-hour program that can be taken completely online. The main focus of the MEd in Educational Leadership program is school administration, and graduates of the program will be eligible for educational leadership certification in the state of Georgia. Applicants to this program will need to successfully complete the Georgia Ethics for Educational Leadership Assessment as well as the Miller Analogies Test or the Graduate Record Exam.

School of Education
Clark Atlanta University’s School of Education offers a broad range of programs in the fields of educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, and counseling education. Some samples of the excellent programs that are presently offered by the School of Education include a master’s degree program in educational leadership, a master of arts program in special education, a master’s degree program in mathematics education, and a doctoral degree program in educational leadership. A certification program in early childhood education is also available for students who do not wish to earn a degree.
M.A., Educational Leadership
Students who choose to earn their Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership with Clark Atlanta University’s School of Education will need to complete coursework in five areas of study: instructional leadership, strategic leadership, political and community leadership, organizational leadership, and educational research and evaluation. They will also be required to participate in an internship prior to earning their degree. Students can typically complete all of the requirements of this program within about two and half to three years.
Educational Leadership Ed.D.
The Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership degree program is structured similar to the Master of Arts in Educational Leadership degree program offered by Clark Atlanta University. However, while students in the master’s degree program only need to complete 30 hours of coursework, those in the doctoral program will need to complete 60. Furthermore, in addition to an internship, students in this program will also need to complete a scholarly dissertation. Dissertations are to be approved by the School of Education’s graduate faculty prior to submission.

Department of Counseling, Foundations, and Leadership
Columbus State University’s Department of Counseling, Foundations, and Leadership offers two certificate programs and seven degree programs in the areas of clinical counseling, school counseling, and educational leadership. Programs that are offered in the area of educational leadership currently include a Masters in Educational Leadership degree program, a Masters in Educational Leadership/Higher Education degree program, a Specialist of Education in Educational Leadership program, and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Leadership degree program.
Master of Education in Educational Leadership
The Master of Education in Educational Leadership program offered by Columbus State University is delivered fully online. Students who enroll in this program can typically complete all of its requirements in about two years, or four consecutive semesters. John Lounsberry College of Education
Georgia College and State University’s John Lounsberry College of Education was named after Dr. John Lounsberry who was the first dean of GCSU. This is an exceptional college that boasts several top awards including the National Wisniewski Award in the year 2008 and the Regents Teaching Excellence Award in the year 2011. GCSU’s John Lounsbury College of Education currently provides high-quality training in a wide array of educational fields including educational leadership, special education, pre-K education, instructional technology, early childhood, and curriculum and instruction.
Educational Leadership Ed.S.
The Specialist in Education in Educational Leadership program that is offered by Georgia College and State University is a highly unique program that can be completed in only three semesters: fall, spring, and summer. It consists of 36 hours of coursework that can be finished completely online. In addition to required coursework, students will also need to participate in a 750-hour residency program. Other requirements of the program include a 3.25 overall GPA, an acceptable score on the Educator Ethics for Leadership Test, and an electronic portfolio presentation.

Georgia Southern University opened its doors to students in the year 1906, at which time it was strictly an educational facility for aspiring teachers. The first professional degree that was offered by GSU was a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. It was not until the year 1968 when the school began offering training programs in other fields, and the College of Education was formed. Today, the College of Education offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in such areas as elementary education, special education, instructional design and technology, curriculum and instruction, and educational leadership.
Educational Leadership M.Ed.
The Master of Education in Educational Leadership degree program that is offered by Georgia Southern University’s College of Education is an online program that requires 36 credit hours of coursework. Students who choose to earn their Educational Leadership M.Ed. from Georgia Southern University’s College of Education will also need to complete a clinical practice program consisting of about 250 hours of field-based work. This is a 27-credit program that requires 750 hours of field-based clinical work. Since it is a highly competitive program, students are asked to submit enrollment applications at least one year prior to the semester that they would like to attend.
Educational Leadership Ed.D.
The Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership program is designed for experienced educational administrators who have a desire to increase their leadership skills. Although much of this program is conducted online, students will need to complete some coursework in traditional classrooms that are located on the Statesboro campus. Students who are enrolled in this program can choose between two concentrations: P-12 administration or higher education administration. Regardless of the path chosen, students will need to complete 60 hours of coursework and a dissertation prior to earning their degrees.

The College of Education and Human Development at Georgia State University currently offers more than a dozen undergraduate programs and more than four dozen graduate programs in a broad range of fields.
