This graduate program is geared toward educators in the PK-12 environment who want to advance to leadership-level positions. In this course of study, you will learn how Ohio state and federal laws apply to the schools, gain an understanding of how you can leverage data for improvement of your school, and identify the dynamics of change.
This is a specialist degree that requires 36 hours of course work in addition to your master’s-level studies. You get to create your own plan of study within your first 12 credit hours of work. If you choose to pursue licensure, which is available with this degree, you must have a minimum of two years’ teaching experience.
Ed.D. in Educational Administration and Supervision
A doctoral program in the Educational Foundations and Leadership division of the Judith Herb College of Education, the Ed.D. degree consists of 61 hours of study above and beyond your master’s-level coursework.
You must engage in original research and produce a dissertation before earning your degree. Some of the topics of focus in this curriculum include special program administration, school district leadership, personnel management and contract administration, plus equity issues and interdisciplinary viewpoints. You will gain practical experience within the PK-12 environment too. With your E.D. degree, your will be qualified to assume such leadership roles as district superintendent, school principal or administrative lead in educational or organizational settings.
