East Central University’s School of graduate studies offers one of the online accredited educational leadership degree programs in Oklahoma. ECU is a regional, student-centered university located in the town of Ada, which is approximately 115 miles from Tulsa. Some classes are also available at a branch campus in McAlester, the site of Eastern Oklahoma State College. As one of the providers of accredited educational leadership degree programs in Oklahoma, Northwestern Oklahoma State University promotes ethical leadership and community service, financial responsibility and critical thinking. The institution dates to 1897 and enrolled just 166 students by the end of its first year of operation. The school expanded its reach in 1996, adding two new campuses to the original Alva location at Enid and Woodward. Students in the Graduate Studies Program must complete an Action Research Project as a requirement for their degrees. The project should span two semesters of regular study and should explore a question or questions related to the student’s program of study which involves the student’s participation in the research process.
