College of Education

ORU offers one of the only doctoral programs in school administration in the state. Students can earn a Doctor of Education in Public School Administration once they complete a graduate program, though they can earn their graduate degrees from other schools. This program features a school administration core of five classes, including Contemporary Curriculum Issues, Strategies for Educational Change and History and Philosophy of Education. Students will also take Organizational Theory in Administration and Leadership Studies. They can then pick a concentration in public school administration, which requires that they take six additional courses. Those classes include Legal, Political and Ethical Issues in Education, Human Resources in Education and School Facility Planning and Management. ORU offers other concentrations for students based on where they want to work. The Christian school administration concentration focuses on working in private religious schools, while the college and higher administration concentration focuses on working in college administration.

Southern Nazarene University
Professional & Graduate Studies
One of the most flexible accredited educational leadership degree programs in Oklahoma is the one offered by Southern Nazarene University. It allows students to take classes on the university’s campus just once a week. This makes it a good choice for teachers and other professionals who want to keep their full-time jobs while finishing their degrees. The university offers help to students who want to enroll in the government’s loan forgiveness program. They can get more than $17,000 of the loans they took out forgiven by the government once they complete their studies and spend some time working in a specific field.
Master of Arts in Educational Leadership
SNU, one of the names that Southern Nazarene University uses, offers educational leadership students the option of taking classes in Tulsa or Bethany one day each week. The university also offers those classes on four of its satellite campuses, which as in Broken Bow, Woodward, Duncan and Sallisaw. As they take 36 credits of classes, students receive the training needed to work in different administration areas. The program prepares them for working as superintendents and in similar positions in elementary and secondary schools. They can also work for colleges once they graduate. Though each campus has different start dates for the program, they all ask that students take the same courses, which are each worth three credit hours apiece. Those courses include Human Resource Management, Educational Research, Long Range Planning, School and Community Relations and Evaluation Curriculum and Instruction. The program also includes an internship performed on a school site that is worth six credits.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University
School of Behavioral Sciences & Education
Southwestern Oklahoma State University uses the abbreviation SWOSU to separate itself from other state colleges. It offers foundation programs for students who plan on applying to accredited educational leadership degree programs in Oklahoma later. Those programs serve as prep programs for future teachers and help them get the licenses that Oklahoma requires teachers to have. The SWOSU School of Behavioral Sciences & Education offers a variety of graduate programs too. Master of Education in Educational Administration

Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education
Through the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education, The University of Oklahoma offers the training and prep work that all types of teachers need. This college has several undergrad degree programs that help students learn what teachers do and get their teaching licenses. Also called OU, this public university offers students the chance to take classes in several formats too. They can take traditional classes on the campuses in Tulsa and Norman or sign up for entirely online or hybrid classes. With hybrid classes, OU expects students to work online and at home as well as work on one of its campuses.
Master of Education in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Supervision
With hybrid and traditional versions available, the program offered by OU ranks as one of the top accredited educational leadership degree programs in Oklahoma. The hybrid or blending learning program is more flexible and allows students to spend less time on the campus and more time online. Most versions of the program have rolling admissions too, which means that students do not need to apply before a specific deadline. College of Education and Professional Studies
The University of Central Oklahoma, also known as UCO, welcomes students to apply to its educational leadership program. Those applying must pay a $50 application fee and submit the UCO application. They’ll also need to supply a letter from an administrator they worked with in an educational position and official transcripts from their schools. UCO only offers this program to those who have a valid teaching license too. The College of Education and Professional Studies is home to a number of professors who have experience in both administration and supervision. Students can learn about the program and what it requires of them before they apply.
Master of Education in Educational Leadership
One of the top accredited educational leadership degree programs in Oklahoma is the UCO program, which includes an internship. This internship helps make sure that students can handle all the issues associated with working as a principal or a superintendent. The university asks that students do their internships in either the spring before they graduate or in their last semesters. This program also has a mid-point check, which occurs halfway through the student’s time in the university. This allows professors to make sure that the student made progress and will graduate on time.
