Each of these podcasts offers a fresh perspective on teaching young learners. The podcasts are available at no cost, and they are regularly updated with fresh content.
Kindergarten Kiosk
Kindergarten Kiosk is a blog and podcast written by Kathy Crane, Kathy Law and Lindsay Jarman, who is Kathy Crane’s daughter. Each of these women are teachers. Their focus is on teaching the whole child using integrated lesson plans. Some of the podcast episodes on Kindergarten Kiosk include songs to sing in December, gingerbread dough recipes, providing reading intervention that supports all students and making a schedule. New episodes are added every couple of days.
Montessori Movement
Parents and kindergarten teachers can learn more about the Montessori style of education by listening to the Montessori Movement podcast. It features a wide range of topics, including how to choose a school and how to foster healthy childhood relationships at school and at home. Parents who educate their children at home could also benefit from listening to this podcast. Hosted by Liz Monson, it explores additional topics such as sibling rivalry. There are about 10 episodes, and no new episodes have been produced since 2017.
The Early Childhood Research Podcast
The Early Childhood Research Podcast focuses on the research and science that drive education. Each episode gets into a different area of research or a study that has just been published. Some of the topics of the podcast include dyslexia and early intervention, why fathers should read to their children and how to create an academically safe environment. There are 23 episodes of the podcast available, but no new episodes have been made since 2018.
CDE Ed Talks Podcast
The CDE Ed Talks Podcast was created by the California Department of Education. It discusses administrative issues, research, policy and practical advice that kindergarten teachers and other teachers and administrators can use. A person does not have to live in California to benefit from the information in this podcast. Some of the topics have included compassion fatigue, how to set priorities and school construction and modernization. The California State Superintendent of Schools delivers some of the news updates in this podcast. This is a newer podcast, and it began in 2019. As of December 2019, it features six episodes with a focus on public education in California. Many of the topics would be of interest to private school teachers as well as kindergarten teachers in other states.
The Amazing Teacher Podcast
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a kindergarten teacher often needs to use a hands-on approach for educating young learners. They also need to help students solve problems. In The Amazing Teacher Podcast, teachers can learn about classroom management, how to make lesson plans that appeal to young learners and how to engage with students. Some of the topics of the podcast have included how to not give up after having a bad day and how to be happier in the classroom. There have not been any new episodes added to this podcast since 2018.
