Angelo State University is based out of San Angelo, Texas. The school was founded as a public university in 1928 when it was known as San Angelo College. Angelo State University Application Requirements
First-time students interested in Angelo State University can apply online. Students are assured admission if they rank in the top 25 percent of their graduating high school classes. Students who rank within the 26th and 50th percentile must have a minimum ACT score of 17 or a minimum SAT of 920. Any student with a class ranking below the 50th percentile does not receive automatic admission but must undergo a file review.
Along with the application, students must provide an official transcript. It must be sent directly from the high school through Angelo State University’s portal. Students should also supply college entrance exam scores. The application process incurs a $40 fee.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Texas residential students seeking undergraduate education at Angelo State University can expect to spend approximately $8,700 in tuition for two semesters at a full course load. This includes all additional fees such as financial records services, recreational sports, and medical services. The cost is about $13,700 for students staying on campus.
Graduate students who do not live on campus at Angelo State University can expect to spend approximately $5,000 per semester for tuition and all related fees. The cost is similar if classes are taken traditionally or online.
Students attending Angelo State University are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. The Carr Academic Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship that awards up to $15,000 per year for excellence in education. Students must have an ACT score of 32 or higher or an SAT score with a minimum of 1420. Students must also have at least a 3.5 GPA. The Carr Academic Scholarship also offers smaller award amounts based on academic performance. Other scholarships may be general or degree-specific. Grants are awarded as need-based only. Along with federal and state grants, Angelo State University offers the Ram Grant. This grant is only offered to an individual who demonstrates need and does not have other awards to aid with the cost of tuition.
Students may also be accepted into the Angelo State University work-study program. This program allows students to work on or off-campus to earn money toward tuition. Angelo State University’s Career Development Office also helps students find employment off-campus.
Angelo State University is part of the Yellow Ribbon Program, which offers assistance to active service members, veterans and their dependents. Undergraduate students receive $4,000 per year under the Yellow Ribbon Program. This program is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is not guaranteed to all who apply.
