Kendall College Application Requirements
Undergraduates entering into Kendall College or National Louis University for the first time must apply to the school either through the online application or through a form that can be printed and mailed. The school recommends that students complete the online application as it takes about half the time to process as the mail-in version.
Students must also provide official copies of high school transcripts and any higher education transfer credits.
Those applying to the master’s program must provide official transcripts in a sealed envelope. They must also complete an admission essay, entrance exams, and the online application. Doctoral applicants must provide all of this information in addition to a resume or CV, letters of recommendation and a written statement. Doctoral applicants must also pass a personal interview to be considered for studies at NLU.
Those students who wish to take classes online complete applications in the same manner as more traditional students.
Tuition and Financial Aid
The cost of attending NLU is determined by the number of hours the student is enrolled. Any student enrolled full-time, which is 14 to 18 hours per semester, will pay a flat fee of $6,000 per semester of coursework. Any student enrolled in under 14 hours must pay an hourly rate, which is $430 per hour, per semester. Students who wish to take an overload will pay the $6,000 per term plus an additional $430 per hour for every hour over 18 per semester.
Tuition fees are the same for online students as they are for traditional, in-class studies. The costs may vary for those students who take courses at one of the additional campus locations that are not part of the main campus. Students are encouraged to speak with an admissions or financial aid counselor to learn exactly what their responsibility will be if they attend classes in a non-traditional manner.
These figures apply only to undergraduate students. Students seeking a master’s degree in any educational field will pay $685 per credit hour regardless of the number of hours being taken. Students seeking a doctoral degree must pay $774 per hour. The flat fees for tuition do not cover miscellaneous expenses or additional fees for payment plans, testing, certification or other.
National Louis University recommends that all students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA determines a student’s ability to receive federal aid in the form of grants that do not need to be repaid based entirely on income. Merit is in no way put under consideration with the FAFSA. Many outside entities also use the FAFSA to help to determine scholarship and grant awards. Students may also use the FAFSA to help to obtain student loans.
National Louis University also offers scholarships and other forms of student aid for some students. These scholarships are both merit and need-based. Students should apply for as many scholarships as they can in order to offset the cost of tuition. The school also accepts outside scholarships. Therefore, students are highly encouraged to research and apply to private scholarships that can then be applied to the cost of tuition, books and room and board.
